Our dog, Moe, was not always a walker. In her first year, she sat and watched as others passed by. Moe seemed to prefer sitting. Some dogs, we thought, may not care for walking. Maybe Moe was one of them.

After short walks, her knuckles wore down, her claws torn. It wasn’t laziness. It was pain. She has neurological disorder which made her drag her front feet. We all know that feeling of sore feet. You don’t forget that. So, we looked for shoes. We tried them all. They were clumsy. Ill-fitting. The ones that stayed on, she hated. The ones she liked, fell off. It became a chase - a search for something that didn’t seem to exist.

In the end, there was only one solution. We made her shoes ourselves. We tested them, tweaked them, and tried again. Until one day, Moe walked without pain. She walked beside the Aura river, the sun on her back, and for the first time, she was happy.

Now, we walk every day. She is stronger, more alive, and we are too. The shoes were for her, but they gave us more than we ever expected.
